HSMP to Work Permit and back?

Dear friends,

I apologise if I'm in the wrong place. Please advice me if I'm wrong. I'm one of those who moved from HSMP to Work Permit when the Nov. 2006 rules came and for the past one and a half years has been toiling under my Work Permit lords. They are making full use of me and they have given me a Five year Work permit. For the kind of work I'm doing, and the pittance they pay me, they would give me a 60-year Work Permit if possible. But I've come across this news in Times of India saying we can go back to HSMP. I'm still working in the same field and do still qualify by the old extension standards. Is this true? Is there anyone else in a similar plight? Dreaming of standing up on my feet again.

If you applied for extension and were refused, then read People who were refused an extension of stay and switched to a different immigration category.
