Univeristy in list gets 35 points but ZERO in English point

Post by nadahmedk » Thu Sep 11, 2008 7:13 pm

Dear friends,
I have BE and MBA from Kuvempu university
And both of these were taught in English only

When I tried to look for my education in
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/pointscalculator

I am getting 35 points as I have postgraduation ( MBA)

BUT When I look for English 10 points, both my BE and MBA are showing only 0 points.

As this is a recognized university I am not sure why the englishs points are shown as zero.

Could any of you help me HOW CAN I GET 10 points without appearing IELTS

IS there any ways I can get my Kuvempu university fecth the required 10 points

I WOULD BE GREATFUL IF I can this help!!!

Thanks
Nad

It is probably because some of the University's courses are taught in a language other than English, so graduates are not presumed to have been taught in English.

No one can suggest anything other than what the Tier 1 policy guidance spells out. So if you are required to take one of the approved tests, then you must. No way out!!

you will have to take one of the tests listed in ANNEX B - ACCEPTABLE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTS of the Tier 1 Policy Guidance

Does Tier 1 not allow letters from universities as evidence of an applicant's english language ability, like they allowed under HSMP?

Then you might want to forget about Tier 1 altogether.

Either write any of the approved tests or become a citizen of one of the countries listed in the guidance notes.

Is of no significance if these qualifications are not listed under the English Requirements section of points-based calculator.

All (possible) "fruitful" suggestions have already been offered to you.

Letter from NARIC wont help. NARIC will only certify if your degree is equivalent to British education system. The letter will not certify that your degree is taught in english... The best bet is to appear for IELTS...

What? Are you scared of failing the test? I am sorry but I have seen some appalling posts on this forum from so called highly skilled migrants that cannot even construct a simple sentence...

Yes there are plenty of those people :) but in this applicant's case, I suspect it is more about the cost and time required to complete an IELTS course, when he/she has already completed at least two University-level qualifications that were taught exclusively in English. And remember, many people have better spoken english than written english.
