What's happened to the USA Green Card Lottery 2008?

What's happened to the USA Green Card Lottery 2008?

Hi,

Each year usually between October and December, millions of people apply for a chance to "win" a green card in the US Green Card Lottery.

What has happened to the one for this year? They usually have details set up on the US Immigration website, but there is no information for this year.

The US Immigration website refers you to this one:

There is no information about the Green Card Lottery for this year on it. :cry: :?

It now says-

The DV-2010 Lottery online entry begins at Noon EDT on October 2, 2008, and ends at Noon EST on December 1, 2008. Information and instructions for the DV-2009 lottery will appear here, as soon as available. Please check this web page at a later time for Diversity Visa information updates. Thank you for your interest in the Diversity Visa Program.


No information yet, but it is more information than was available when I made this thread asking about the DV Lottery. 8)

What do we think of the DV lottery? What are the (expected) odds? Worth giving it a shot? Anyone already on the forum that won, or knows anyone that's won?

I know two people who have won. One of them won it about 10 years ago and the other person won it about 5 years ago. :shock:

I am planning to apply this year as I just found out I am eligible. I initially thought I wasn't because I am a Canadian citizen, and Canada is not part of the eligible country list. Recently I realized that my country of birth IS on the list! I'm 22 and about to turn 23 this year - I sure hope I get lucky, I wouldn't want to have to do this for 10 years until I actually get one!

On that thought, are we allowed to re-apply every year?

Yes, as long as you still qualify.
