Unfortunately this much be completed in English. However if this is an issue, one can alway follow ESOL and citizenship classes. This would exempt the requirement for Life in the UK test.

can someone help plz. The life in the uk test - does that have to be taken in English or can it be studied and taken in Urdu.

advice is appreciated.

thanks,

I believe the whole point of the life in uk test is so applicants show a knowledge of english, either that or you have to pass the ESOL level one.

Hello Saiqabb - no news is sometimes good news! I was not expecting a response untill 2 weeks time! The fact I have got a response before you, might mean they have declined the application as they don't need to stamp the passport and just need to return the application.

Others seem to have got them 2 months + 6 days after they applied. Quote from Chelsearule

3rd July - 9 September
4th July - 10 September
5th July - 11 September

I applied on 17th July and it's 12th September!

Ahh man its going to be a long weekend!

I'm pretty confident all the papers are accurate and exactly whats been asked for.

I have just seen this forum & alhamdullillah it does help seeing other people in the same boat. my wife submitted her settlement visa application on the 10th of July 2008..after sending an e-mail and ringing the call centre they finally updated the website on the 11th september, which now says the application is ready for collection.

Inshallah my wife is going on monday, so at the mo im just hoping and praying its good news..the wait is killing me..please please remember me in your duas..i hope and pray ever1 is re-united with their spouses

I have 4 months full time work pay slips and roughly 2 months part -time (as i was a full time student prior to full time work) Do u think this will be sufficient!?

I would be grateful if sombody could point me in the right direction!

for the sister who was trying to track the progress of the passport online. its done through www.ukvacpk.com..my wifes ref number started with QML/******/******/* (all the * mean numbers). it would be on the reciept ypur husband received when he handed in his application. hope this helps

salaam everyone congrats to those ppl who have got their visa's.
My wife applied for her visa on 18th aug and they initially told her to call after 4 weeks. she has actually been calling Gerrys for past 2 weeks and they have kept saying call after 2-3 days.
I've also been checking on the website and it says Application Forwarded to Islamabad OC on 18 Aug.
I just want to know has anybody got their visa in 4 weeks and also when applying did they provide any sort of timeline to anyone.

Hi All,

Welcome to all the newcomers to this site .... with regards to times & updates - I'll be honest, it is very erratic.

It appears the norm seems to be around 8-10 wks at the moment - unless your one of the very fortunate ones who gets a response within a few weeks.

Keep patient everyone, have faith & support your partners.

For those who are collecting passports today - Good luck!! I hope you all receive positive news - please keep us all posted.

Mamalik1 - to be honest, you got a pretty good response info from the VAC, they normally say 10-15 days & your waiting months!!

It has been 4 weeks today and they've still not responded.
Is there a no for the BHC office, as it seems Gerry's cant really provide any updates as such.
