Effect of getting child benefit on Tier 2 dependent

Post by sustbd » Mon Nov 16, 2020 9:27 pm

Hello there,
I am looking for an expert opinion/suggestion on this topic. I got my ILR via Tier 2 on August, 2020. I have applied for Child benefit recently as I am allowed get public fund as a settled person. However, I found in the UK gov website that when my wife will apply then me and my wife must not use public fund.

"When you (my dependent) apply for settlement, you (me) and your partner (wife) must:
  • be living together in your own accommodation
    • not be using public funds"

Is it going to be an issue for getting my wife's ILR? If yes then how can I get rid of this issue.

      Many thanks in advance.

As long the child benefit is in YOUR name, your wife is fine.

Hello CULLINAN,
Yes, the child benefit is in my name, I applied for it and the money is coming in my account. Many thanks for your valuable reply.
