GTV evidences for KC1 and QC3

Post by abhjieet4u » Thu Nov 19, 2020 10:09 pm

Hi,

I am planning to apply GTV by myself. I am looking for some help on the following:
1. Are supporting letters as evidence also need to be on Letterhead?
2. Can I use Linkedin link in place of a resume in supporting letters and Recommendation letters, or is it must to add resume? if yes then should this be part of 3 pages for both recommendation and Support letter?
3. What evidences should be included for QC3 apart from learning certificates, is it required to have a support letter with details of courses completed for QC3.
4. How many pieces of evidence are sufficient for KC1, QC1 and QC3 (will 3,3,2 be sufficient)
5. HR letter with salary details, responsibilities and yearly review should be part of KC1 or QC1?
6. Should employment contract and HR letter both go as one evidence or can be separate evidence for KC1 and QC1?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Ab

Hi Abhijeet,
Will try to give your Q's a shot
1. There's no mandate on letterheads in the Tech Nation guidance. In fact, some companies do not allow their employees to issue letters on official letterheads. In my opinion, no letterheads is not a deal-breaker.
2. There's no resume needed for supporting letters. LinkedIn works in place of resume. In case of recommendation letters, the resume is over and above 3 pages.
3. The tech nation guide gives a good overview of evidences that are acceptable for QC3. A support letter is not mandated. By the way, just for your info, the criteria QC3 will be discontinued after 30-Nov.
4. No fixed combination. It all 'depends'. But with 3,3,2 seems you are planning only 8 evidences. Ideally, applicants should try and use all 10 evidences to maximise their chances of a successful endorsement.
5. Depends on which criteria you think it evidences. Personally, I feel salary details, responsibilities are not strong evidences for either KC1 or QC1.
6. Same as 5.
Best of luck
D

Hi dream believer,
Thanks a lot for very quick reply.

I was struggling to get Recommendations on letterhead, as the guideline say that recommendation should have logo and company name.

I think that can be added with signature then if letterhead is not available.

No worries, Abhijeet.

Ideally the main recommendation letters are taken from "senior" folks in the organisation, and so typically, they are fine with letterheads. If not and if the recommenders are okay with it, then logo and company name can be added with signature, I guess. In fact, I know of a few cases, where the recommenders gave their recommendations on their own personal letterheads.

In case of no letterhead, you could ask them to mention their designation, official email ID, the office/company address, phone number, LinkedIn etc., below the signature to get an overall sense.

Hi D,

In place of resume if we are using a Linkedin profile, Will it be just a link in Signature or screenshot of the profile or Profile Content formed in CV with LinkedIn link as a reference.

Thanks

Hi SD,
D has answered it in point #2, I think for Reco letter no harm in getting Linked in the resume as it is not part of 3 pages limit. For supporting letter, the profile link should be sufficient.

Hi,

Do you think multiple supporting letters from the same organization will have a negative impact, example, having 6 of them from the same organization but different individuals at different levels where I worked for around 9 years.

AB

Hi AB,
Hard to say. Though it depends on what you are evidencing.
I mean, I suppose if your last 5 years are part of this 9 years, then it is but natural that most of your letters will be from the same organisations but from different individuals at different levels evidencing different criteria.
Just be clear, that Tech Nation specifies that the 3 recommendation letters should be from people in 3 different organisations, but they do not mandate anything about supporting letters.
Hope this helps

Thanks, AB. For the response. In the supporting letter, I was not using the resume or link. But I think now I can use the link. Hope I get all the recommendation letter signed in 2-3 days. Otherwise following up for the signature and getting a CV is a hectic task.

Thanks

Hi,

One more question on KC1 and QC1 -
- DO you think the evidence for QC1 should include the impact of innovations in KC1, or it is okay to have impacts which may not be directly attributed by innovations.

I know this might be tricky as there is no such guideline for this but just thought to ask if based on experience someone has an idea about it.

AB

Hi AB,
I successfully cleared QC1. Based on my experiences, I do not think there is a "linkage" of innovation and impact as far as QC1 is concerned, it remains all about impact and your role in that impact. Similarly, I think you 'could' include impact of innovations of KC1 in QC1 (not sure about 'should').
I think it is pretty straightforward actually. KC1 is about innovation and QC1 is about impact.

Just wondering if it is possible and worth to provide evidence of KC1 and KC2 both if available in form of recommendation, considering the focus on KC1 but as an optional KC2.
Does TechNation website allow it to upload against both KC and will it really add value to application?

Thanks in advance.

Hi AB,
TechNation website requires you to match evidences with criteria. Also I feel it doesn't help to spread evidences against multiple criteria (for example KC1 and KC2). So No and No.

Hi,

Is it required to send the documents to the home office by email as well after uploading to TechNation?

Anything else required to after submitting the application in Technation?

Hi AB,
No need to send any document to anyone through email.
If you have submitted already, do you have your URN?

Hi D,

I got UAN number when I completed the payment, then went to TechNation and completed the application form using UAN number and uploaded the reco and evidence.

But I am confused because on the last page/step - "What to do next" (after payment step) on Gov.uk site, it says to send the document on email to start the processing of your application. Below is the snippet from that step:
You must send us your document checklist and supporting documents as soon as possible. We cannot start processing your application until you do this.

Send by email
The fastest way to send your checklist and documents is by email.

Send an email to GlobalTalentEndorsements@homeoffice.gov.uk.
So is URN is something different than UAN or payment reference number? or am I missing something here?

Thanks,
AB

Hi AB,

I can understand this part of the application gets a bit confusing with all the cross referencing between the UKVI and Tech nation website.

UAN = Unique Application Number - you get this when you complete the payment on the UKVI website
URN = Unique Reference Number - you get this from the Home Office email subject, once you complete the application on Tech Nation website AND the UKVI refers your application to Tech Nation.

Do not worry on that standard part on the checklist (under What to do next). I got it too but I did not email any documents whatsoever. This part of the checklist is "generic" since I believe some other endorsing bodies of the GTV, expect you to email the documents, as part of their process. But for Tech Nation, there is NO need to email anything, and the uploading on their website is sufficient.

The countdown ticker on application processing, starts only after the applicant gets the URN (signifying that Tech Nation has got the application)

Best of luck for your application and do keep me posted. I would be happy to know how it goes.

Hello D,

Thanks for clarifying, so I should expect an email from home office about confirmation of application submission and URN. Haven't got any email from gov.UK yet, have got only one email from TechNation to confirm successful submission.
