Stamp 4 EUFAM via British Sponsor : Apply for Long Term Residency?

Post by raja.brit » Mon Nov 23, 2020 9:45 pm

Hello,

Can a Stamp 4 EUFAM holder of a British Citizen (Non-Eu) apply for Long Term Residency (which is for non-eu citizens) after 31st December 2020 you reckon?

I know INIS is working to replace Stamp 4 EUFAM to domestic permit beginning of next year.

http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages//U ... in-Ireland

I wonder if there will a new scheme for non-eu family that will replace PR or it will be merged with the Long Term Residency route.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

LTR is specifically for people who have obtained five years of residence on work permits (e.g. 2 years Critical Skills EP + 3 years Stamp 4, or 5 years General EP).

For all other people, they can either apply for Citizenship after 5 years, or Stamp 5 WCATT after 8 years).

Alternative measures for UK citizens’ family members are yet to be announced.

The procedures that the Irish authorities would be putting in place, will have to provide for the issuance of Permanent residence documentation for those family members who have accrued 5 years residence, as the treaty requires them to do so. Therefore provisions will be put in place for issuance of PR to British Citizen family members.

What will empact travelling to eu countries in future.?

It will be for those whose sponsor is a British Citizen.

You may review the travel information for all British Citizens from the new year below:

https://www.gov.uk/visit-europe-1-january-2021

I think Schengen Visa would likely be the way forward as non-eu residents in Ireland who are spouse or dependents of Britain Citizens will be treated as any other non-eu citizens outside the EU.

Because it is not part of the withdrawal agreement.

Details are yet to be released, but the idea is these people will need to apply for a new card from January next year. Keep an eye on the INIS announcement.

New BRP will be issued in January. The scheme is open until December 2021. Those who have Stamp 4EU fam can continue to use it until then.

To be honest it will be very difficult to make an appointment with local garda immigration officer to renew card every year if INIS impose Stamp 4 rules on stamp 4Eufam holders.
As everyone know how Garda immigration office work in Ireland.
Totally nightmare
