That’s incorrect. Visit visas will not be accepted under the current situation. The purpose of visit is not to get an extension of Stamp 4 either (unless you obtained your Stamp 4 based on IIP scheme). The purpose of visit should be reside (I.e. Type D long stay, with the exception of EUTR).
I just checked AVATS now and it should have all the visa types. If you have a Stamp 1/4 based on employment permits, you should select employment. As long as you have a current IRP card, you should not need your original employment permit. If your permission is based on your spouse/child, there is the Join Family, with a number of different subtypes to select from (Irish, EU, non-EU, de facto etc).
