Work rules for a non EU spouse

Hi

I would like to know how long does a couple need to be married before the NON EU spouse can work and live in the UK with his wife.

Also, I would like to know if the Eu passport holder needs to have a work and immigration to live and work and maybe get a Uk citizenship?

Any links and information would be highly appreciated.
