What visa for Japanese wife

Post by safe2safe » Fri Dec 04, 2020 3:38 am

Im currently living and working in Tokyo.

Due to my parents health it looks like I need to move home pretty soon.

Regarding my Japanese wife, what would be the best visa for her to get there quickly? I know Japanese people get 6 months automatically but we would need something longer, or can she re enter after the first 6 months is up, ie fly back to somewhere and then back in the same day?

So is it possible to get a long stay visitor type visa for my wife, then while together In the UK I can find work then apply for the marriage visa after 6months.

If there are any options I would love to know them.

Thanks

Maybe T5 if she can meet the criteria:

https://www.gov.uk/youth-mobility/eligibility

Alternatively spouse visa:

https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/partner-spouse

Unfortunately my wife is over 30 so that route is not an option.

Regarding the partner spouse visa? Is my wife able to apply for that easily in Japan?

I thought to apply for the spouse visa I need to show that I am working in the UK for 6months earning over 18.5k? I am currently living and working in Tokyo.

Thanks.

Yes you need to be earning £18600 in UK, however, your Japanese income can also be counted if you have a job offer going to start within 3 months on arriving to UK.

Read through the following guidance to learn about in full detail and explore other alternative ways.
