Hi All,

First of all let me thank this forum for all its help for fetching my HSMP from WP. I'm very very thankful to this forum.

Now I need a small help:

I got a job offer from say company X, I signed the offer letter and posted them, the employer also recieved those signed papers.
(BOTH Companies ARE IN UK)

Now my old Employer has given me a better offer(salary hike and is shifting me to SAP domain). I want to stay in my old company.

Does signing an offer letter mean that I have to join the new company or can I still remain in this old company.

WIll there be any legal complications if I dont join new company.

Please Please Please let me know ur suggestions.

Depends upon whether there were any clause/s specific to joining the said company upon accepting the offer. Normally the offer does not include any such clause/s but that does not mean that is the norm.

You should check what you have signed when you accepted the offer.

Thank you for a quick reply.

The job offer included the following:

* the job title and a brief job description
* the location
* conditions to be met (satisfactory references)
* the terms (for example, pay, hours, holiday entitlement)
* the starting date and probationary period
* what you have to do next and by when

These were the important things on the offer letter and I dint not see any clauses on the offer letter.

Legally they can take you to court...but
Practically nothing happens...so don't worry...

yes and lots of time if you don';t show up the first day, then they can't hold you to it
in the future, dont mail the papers back, bring them with you on the first day

I did go to legal advisor and he also said that I'm on the safer side.

Guys ,

One more small suggestion needed

How do I proceed saying the new company that I would be unable to join, any suggestions

Shall I(is it required to) send written mail(e-mail / posting copy) stating any reason(like due to my personal reasons, I'm unable to join,etc) or any other good suggestions or

shall I just call them and tell...............

Any suggestions appreciated

Forget about any LEGAL stuffs here...
You MUST let them know, via agency if applicable, that you can not join them. Come up with politically correct answers like your employers has given you an excellent opp. and great salary hikes which you could not refuse etc...

Its best to speak rather than email

It will be really too rude if you don't let them know.
