Separation while visa processing

Hi

I had a question from one of our friend's thought to ask on forum:

If a person's application is in process for ILR on the basis of FLR (M) (5 yr route) and they decide to separate from their husband. What can happen to their status? Do they have to tell home office of separation and apply under other route considering having two kids. If yes, what if they don't work. Do they go to Social Services for help?

A UK sponsor is expected to update his state of relationship with the none EU partner to UKVI who usually in return curtail the visa. Despite the ILR is under process but if the caseworker gets known/detected that despair in their relationship then would definitely delay/refuse the application. However, if the separation is mild and reconcilable then better to stay away from UKVI.
