About Tier 2 visa extension - please advise

Post by Gee2020 » Sun Dec 13, 2020 12:34 pm

Hi everyone,

I have been working for my employer on Tier 2 (general) visa since March 2018. My current visa will expire on 31 March 2021. My employer has just extended my work contract for one year and has asked me to forward my details so they can issue me a new certificate of sponsorship (CoS) but I haven't done so yet. However, I hope to interview next month (i.e. Jan 2021) for a better job with at least 3 years contract in another organisation.

My Questions:

1) If I am successful and this new organisation/employer issues me their own CoS, how should I handle this in terms of my visa extension? Will it be a problem if I have multiple CoS? What should I do?

2) Because my visa expiration date is near (March 2021), if I initiate visa application using my current employer's CoS, what should I do if this new organisation eventually issues me a CoS?

3) I am concerned about paying my visa application fee twice if I have to apply several times. The "anticipated new job" will be a new role with a different SOC code from what I'm currently on.

This visa extension stuff is a dilemma for me and I would appreciate your suggestions on what to do.

Thank you.
