Child Benefit started before ILR granted date

Post by harshitguptaiitr » Thu Dec 17, 2020 12:05 pm

I applied and was granted ILR
6 days later, I received BRP and posted Child Benefit form on same date.
Opted out of payments due to High Income Child Benefit Tax
Now, received letter that Child Benefit started.

However start date of Child Benefit is 78 days before the ILR was granted
This is because HMRC automatically starts claim 3 months back-dated.
Child is over 2 years old.

In the CB form, we did say YES to subject to immigration control previously and did specify the date on which ILR was granted.

Is there anything that needs to be done, so that we don't jeopardise future citizenship application in 2021.

It's the responsibilty of the claimant to ensure the details are correct. I assume that claimant is your non-working/low income partner, if you earn too much to claim Child Benefit?

Is the child or the other parent British?
