IHS fees refund on tier 2 general if dependent is a healthcare worker

Post by Fahadnari » Fri Dec 18, 2020 12:27 pm

Hi

I applied for dependents tier 2general visa extension in September while my ILR was pending decision. When I applying for dependents visa I paid only partial IHS charge based on validity my tier 2 visa as I hadn't received my BRP .

My wife works as a nurse in a NHS clinic and I was hoping we would get a waiver for IHS fees as I had provided all her documents regarding her work.

I got an email yesterday to pay the top up/balance amount on IHS which I paid for. I wanted to check has anyone had any success in getting IHS refund for their dependents when applying for a tier 2 visa extension. I looked at this page and the instructions are not very clear if tier 2 general are eligible for waivers or not if their dependents are health care workers.

Please let me know if you had any success in getting your IHS charges refunded .

Hi,

I think those on a Tier 2 (General) visa cannot use the online refund process and must email IHSrefunds@homeoffice.gov.uk to have their request processed.

in email send the details

sponsor's name
Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) number
Immigration health surcharge number

Thanks

Any updates from your refunds? I have emailed home office for refunds but no reply yet.

Nothing yet, I am still waiting for a decision on my dependents visa. We can apply for a refund only after we receive a successful decision. Hoping Home office can provide a decision soon.
