Since they received application in February 2020, I am yet to receive application reference number and receipt for my children. I only received my own reference number and receipt of payment. And they received our applications same day. I don't understand what they are doing in there.

That is absolutely violently.

Happy new year everyone..i actually join the forum to be aware of parents waiting time for their child/children approval , and i can see that i am not the only one in the long waiting time boat for my 5years old daughter.(born in Ireland and applied for her when she was 3years)

Application= 23rd march 2019 (based on parent citizenship)
Acknowledgement letter= 6th april 2019
DOJ Requested for her passport in August 2019( i sent it immediately and got it back 1week after)
Approval =waiting

All email to them are always same generated response "still under process"
Fingers crossed for everyone. I Will keep you all updated🤗

Hi All,

Although I'm not new to to this forum, new to this topic. I'm a little bit confused after reading these posts. It'd be great if you can help me out for below questions
  • As you know, an Ireland born child whom non-EEA parents have been legally living in Ireland for more than 3 years is eligible for Irish citizenship. In this case, should child go thorough naturalisation process? If not, what's the process
  • When I read previous posts, I see some kids have Irish passport but not citizenship cert. What does this mean? In normal circumstances, a passport is only given to citizens. Why do you need citizenship cert when you have passport?
  • Lastly,my wife and myself are non-EU nationals and we're expecting a baby. Any recommendation based on your past experience ? Any Dos and Don'ts?

1. Directly apply the passport.

2. No need of citizenship cert. You can use birth-cert.

3.No specific recommendation but the Child should be born in Ireland then you can apply. You will get the child passport within 4 to 6 weeks.

If one of the non-EEA parents has been legally living in Ireland in more than 3 years, new born will be Irish by birth. In this case naturalisation is not applicable for the new born nor citizenship cert.

As a parent if you think that you meet this criteria, you can apply for an Irish Passport for the new born. For non-EEA parents, passport office asks for passport and GNIB card to determine whether child is eligible to be Irish by birth. Once they are satisfied, they issue Irish passport for the new born. This is how I applied and got my child's Irish passport.

You can apply for the child directly to passport office..if you or spouse have minimun of 3years straight residency on stamp4 counting on the date of the delivery backward i.e no gap on your GNIB renewal stamp for 3years on or before the birth of your child. Just get the passport form fill it and send to their office if all requirements is ok your child passport will be issue. If they need more clarification the office will get in touch...safe delivery to your wifey🤗

Hi, any movement on children's naturalisation applications? Any new approvals? I had applied on behalf of my Irish born child in July 2018. Anyone waiting for this long?

I have applied on behalf of my child since July 2018 as well. Just got an Email today replies that "Your child's application for naturalisation is currently being processed
with a view to establishing whether you meet the statutory conditions for
the granting of naturalisation and will be submitted to the Minister for
decision when processing "

This must be very frustrating for you and your family. Children's approvals should not have stopped due to COVID because children are not required to attend ceremonies.

To be honest, I am very frustrating. I think that minor application should be approved in six months, because they don't need check so many things as same adult's.

As children don't have GNIB card so you can apply on parent stamp.
