Max length of stay for dependents on Tier 2 general

Hi All

I wanted to know if 6 years max length of stay on tier 2 general visa applies for dependents visa or is it only for the main applicant. I applied for my dependents visa extension in September as they were falling short of 4 month to be eligible for ILR. UKVI took14 weeks to approve their visa (we got the decision email today) and my dependants would now be eligible for ILR in couple days and they would complete 5 years stay in UK on Feb 26th 2021.

As we had to pay a good sum for the renewal and IHS fees I don't want to spend another £5k for their ILR right now.

I want to know if my dependents need to apply for their ILR in 2022 before they complete 6 years on Tier 2 general or can they stay in UK on tier 2 general visa beyond 6 years and apply for ILR close the expiry of their extension which has been granted till 2024.

Please let me know.

There is no 6 year cap for dependents.

PBS dependent guidance. But there is not and never has been a 6 year cap for PBS dependents.
