I checked with a lawyer and the information on citizensadvice (here: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/immig ... ed-status/) and was told it is not compulsory, but it should make your life easier especially that you still have a couple of years to go on this card. I have been trying to get any confirmed information on whether any new government advice came out to say that this is a compulsory requirement. A recent HO presentation, didn't include this information. They only said that you will be getting an EUSS only if you do not already hold a valid BRC.Mkrd wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 8:22 pmHi I'm a non eu family member(spouse) of eu national. i got my EEA family member BRC in 2018 which is valid for 5 years.I got my pre settled status applied on that BRC. Now that new rules have been taken place is it compulsory to replace it with EUSS BRC or i can use it till its expiry date . Please held .Thank you.
Please do not introduce any more doubts into an important question which has already been answered.BlackDahlia wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:11 pmI have been trying to get any confirmed information on whether any new government advice came out to say that this is a compulsory requirement.
It is not my intention to introduce more doubt, but I am in this situation myself and I have been asking about this for the past days to no avail. In my situation, I would be eligible for the settled status in literally a month after the 30 June date and I have already been through a hellish process of a BRC replacement in my first year arriving to the UK. So I really wanted to see if this could be avoided especially that one's status is in fact independent of the card. If my question isn't appreciated in this forum, then fine. I just joined and thought this group is helpful...kamoe wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:48 pmPlease do not introduce any more doubts into an important question which has already been answered.BlackDahlia wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:11 pmI have been trying to get any confirmed information on whether any new government advice came out to say that this is a compulsory requirement.
Fair enough. But note, that's the danger of piggy backing on someone else's post instead of introducing your question, with your own background, in your own separate post. Made it look like you had not read the previous contributions to the post.BlackDahlia wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 11:19 pmIt is not my intention to introduce more doubt, but I am in this situation myself and I have been asking about this for the past days to no avail. Thank you very much! I am new to the forum, so didn't really know what is the best way to approach this question. I will definitely follow your advice for next time and post my own question explaining more my circumstances and confusion. Thank you for the help and all the best!kamoe wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 8:58 amFair enough. I have addressed your question in this other post where your comment is more in-line with the OP's and where you give background into what exactly you are asking.
