Referee

Post by PGTips » Tue Jan 12, 2021 7:55 pm

Hi,

Can one of my referees be my partner or his family member? We are not married, so technically not related to each other.

Thanks.

Referees must:
• not be a relative
• not be a solicitor or agent representing you on this application
not be related to the other referee;;
• not be employed by the Home Office;;
• not have been convicted of an imprisonable offence during the last 10 years
(unless that conviction can be disregarded in line with the table shown in the
Guide);;
• have known the applicant personally;;
• be willing to give full details of their knowledge of the applicant;;
• advise the Home Office of any reason why the applicant should not be
registered.

I meant one of my referees. Not both of my referees. I’m asking if one of my referees can either be my partner or his family members.
My other referee is a friend.

Personally i tried to avoid asking my bf to be my referee. if you live at the same address home office might think you are related in that way. I wouldnt risk to be honest

Help with a couple of questions in the application form

Post by PGTips » Mon Mar 01, 2021 5:31 pm

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked in this forum before but I couldn’t find it.

In the online form,
1. The date that I first came into the U.K.

Would it be the same date that I used as the qualifying period (Tier 2 visa) for my ILR application? Or would it be the date when I first came to U.K. ever which is the Tier 4?
I had Tier4, Tier 5, Tier 2 then ILR.

2. Previous visa applications

My tier 4 was from over 10 years ago. I don’t remember which centre in my home country I applied it in and I can’t find any related documents to tell me which centre it was. What do I do?

Thank you for your help.

1. The question is self explanatory. It is the date you originally arrived.

2. Approximate is fine. Am sure it is an "if known". Just put the country.
