health insurance with settled status before naturalisation

Post by mmalinconia » Thu Jan 14, 2021 1:02 pm

hi all,

i've got settled status by providing my social insurance number (i've been employed almost non stop for 5 years). Now I am about to quit my job and I will become self sufficient.

I am planning to apply for naturalisation in 12 months after receiving settled status. Can you please let me know if I need comprehensive sickness insurance in those 12 months to be eligible for naturalisation?

CSI not required for Settled Status or naturalisation.

I think CSI is not needed from the time you are settled (only prior to it).

Correct.
Was only required for EU citizens exercising Treaty Rights as "Students" or "Self-Sufficient".

Post by mmalinconia » Mon Mar 01, 2021 9:57 pm

hi all,

I'm applying for naturalisation online, i've filled in application, i have about two month gap in employment where i was self sufficient. when i get to document checklist, there is no mention of CSI health insurance ? should i still upload it, even if they don't require it?? is there a time limit for which I can have an employment gap and still not need the CSI?

Two months employment gap is no issue, you are allowed to look for another job - declare as unemployed. No CSI required.

Thank you for your answer!

Also before submitting naturalisation application I am going to be self sufficient /unemployed for 3 months in 2021.

Am I correct that CSI is not required after 31st December 2020 Brexit date? Or the Home Office will still examine my history of 10 past years, including this year?

No CSI is required in 2021 onwards - though "Good Character" can/will be examined 10 years back, except for certain circumstances when there's no time limit, such as serious crimes, war crimes, terrorism, etc.
