Can I get a second Greencard

Post by Happy1234 » Wed Sep 24, 2008 8:02 am

About five years back I won the DV lottery and got a GC. After about 6 mths of living in the US, I went back home planning just to stay for under a year and make my way back again. However during that time I met my future wife and obviously she has no legal way to enter the US. I wont bore you with the details but needless to say my returning visa long since expired and I suspect my GC is worthless. Fair enough, not complaining about that. Wife takes priority anyway.

What I would like to know though - is can I enter the DV2010? I doubt it, but thought I would ask.

You may first want to consult an immigration lawyer with experience in abandonment issues to see if you still have your green card. Did you file US taxes after returning to the UK?

I don't see why you can't enter the 2010 DV lottery.

Well, no. Because if I never came home I would never have met my wife and had a son.

Thanks for the replies.

True love waits, a few years at least. USA visa rules won't wait for anyone. :(
