Manchester city council started virtual ceremony that's great news for the Manchester applicants.

Approval date: 21st of October
HO invitation printing date: 31st of December
HO invitation received by post: 25th of January
Council invitation received: 26th of January
Virtual ceremony date: 03rd of February for free.

That means HO metioned printing dates are true but we are receiving by post late because of some disruption of royal mail may be. Oe home office posting late.
That is good to hear. Did you receive the invitation letter by post or email?

I have got the invitation letter from home office but nothing from council.
They did say they will start posting out invitation letters for virtual ceremony so i guess October approvals have started receiving it... (i was approved on 5th November).
I received by post. Hopefully November approvals will get invitations in upcoming week. Council posted latter Monday and I received it Tuesday.

Hi,

Would like to share the progress of our application for Citizenship.

Update for myself and my husband - we applied at the same time:
Application Date: 7/07/20
Biometrics Appointment: 08/09/20
Date of Approval: 02//11/20
HO Invite Printing Date: 08/01/21
HO Invitation Received by Post (via Solicitor): 25/01/21 (husband) and 27/01/21 (mine came later)
Ceremony Date: 01/04/21 (Private)
*Hammersmith & Fulham offers both Group (for free) and Private (£109 per person).
*Private is available Mon-Fri while Group Ceremony, they only offered us the 4th Feb so I'm not sure of the other days in the week. The council is very helpful and responsive via email.
*As my invitation was delayed, they said it's okay for me to attend for as long I take with me my Letter of Approval (in lieu of the invitation).

This forum has been very helpful especially during these times of further delays due to to pandemic. Thanks to all that have shared their insights.

Hi

Is there any updates from Ealing Council? Could anybody reach them to book a ceremony?

Thanks
i got the invitation more than 1 month ago . They are not responding to any calls anymore ... i send 4/5 emails. 3 phone calls
Hi

Thanks for the reply. I went there on Monday. Their office is open and they have their staffs working there. I saw someone from registrars by the entrance of the council. She said they are dealing with death registration at the moment and I should wait to receive a letter from them.
Well, she behaved so bad with me. I’m not going to go back there anymore and I will just wait. 😢

Is there any update from Ealing council? Have they contacted you?

Ealing here - No update from them since I sent them an email last Wed. And sorry to hear that - that was just awful... It does feel like they are simply not doing anything with citizenship atm...

It's not only Ealing, Newham is same. They are giving same response (dealing with death registrations) and not doing any ceremonies until the end of lockdown. 😫

Lockdown restrictions will continue until atleast 8th March. So does this mean newham council will not do any ceremony till then ?

That's too long. They need to consider virtual ceremonies otherwise ceremonies backlog and waiting list will continue to increase.

Everyone who's in Newham Council, should we do anything collectively to ask them for virtual ceremony.

I mean stopping ceremonies because of lockdown is not really a practical approach (especially when other councils are doing it virtually).

If anyone have anything to recommend for this matter, please share.

Thanks

Hi all, I applied though my solicitors for neutralization which got approved thank God, not sure when but I got my letter for invitation from home office dated 30th December to book an appointment for the ceremony with Manchester council.
I have emailed Manchester register office yesterday, and they updated that there are some more invitations being sent out today/tomorrow for ceremonies the following week, just thought I update anyone on Manchester council
