Tier2 General visa extension

Hello all,

I am currently on Tier2 General visa expiring this July 2021.

How soon can I ask my employer to apply for a new cos/cos extension (don't know the correct term to use)?
I just want them to apply as soon as they can to avoid uncertainties and gain confidence.

How long can I be there on Tier 2 General visa? I remember it used to be 6 years. But now, UK visa website is redirecting me to Skilled worker visa. Please advice.

Visa Start date - 11-09-2011
Visa end date - 14-07-2021

As far as I am aware, you may apply for a CoS/Visa for extension anytime.
Skilled Worker visa has replaced Tier 2 General visa.
The 6 year cap was removed with the new Skilled Worker route

My existing visa dates are from Sep 2017 to July 2021 which is 3 years 10 months.
I Would like to know if its better to go for 2 years extension or 3 years extension?
Visa fee is the same for both 2 years and 3 years, but NHS fee would be more. So, checking the advantages for 3 years extension.

Can I get the extra NHS fee back when I apply for ILR after completing 5 years on Tier2 General visa?

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

You do NOT get an IHS fee refund if you apply for ilr.

Though my visa end date is 14-07-2021, my current cos states the work end date as 30-06-2021.
What start date should I request my employer to mention in my new cos for my visa extension?
15-07-2021 or 01-07-2-21
