on student visa, wanting to marry british boyfriend?

Post by myrlabelle » Fri Sep 26, 2008 1:41 am

Hi all and thank you in advance for reading,

I am 22, have been in the uk for 4 years on a student visa which runs out end of Nov 2008.
me and my bf are expecting our first baby on 31 Oct 2008 and we have been living together for 3 years.
Now, he gets benefits which he will stop claiming soon as he is on training for a new job (salary 18k to start)
my questions are:
will 18k be considered enough to support a spouse visa?
what are the requirements for a certificate of approval (COA)?
if i were to extend my visa student, will having a baby affect their decision? or should i apply for a post-study work visa?
thank you ever so much for any help you could provide

Hi, You have following two options:

1. Please read section 3
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... idance.pdf

2. Apply for student visa first then apply for COA, once you get married then apply for FLR(M)/2 yr spouse visa, if you go through option 2 then you will have good chances to get 2 yr spouse visa bcz your husband will be working by that time.

I hope it helps.

Thanks
Umar
