visa for an australian yachtsman to sail from the states

Hi all.

Can anyone tell me what visa i need to sail a boat i buy in the states, out of the country? I am not earning money in the states and i am Australian with a UK visa. My wife will be sailing with me and she has UK and Australian passports.

A return ticket is mandatory for the visa waiver scheme if you arrive in the U.S. by commercial carrier.

If this will not apply, you will need a U.S. B-2 tourist visa, if this will be your own boat.

You will also need to investigate the procedure for recording your departure from the United States and whether there is a bar on doing what you plan to do.
