UK family visiting visa #COVID-19 #lockdown

Post by Karthik#44 » Wed Feb 17, 2021 7:16 pm

Hello

Thank you, in advance, for taking your time to read through this post. It is much appreciated if you would give me advice and/or information on the chances of getting a UK family visit visa for my mother-in-law, considering the national lockdown situation in the UK.

The purpose of her visit is for helping my wife during 3rd trimester and taking care of the baby after delivery. About me, I hold a Tier-2 general visa and living in the UK for over 3 years now.

My key questions here are:
1. Is the UK home office accepting or processing the family visit visa application?
2. If so, what are the chances of granting a visa during the lack down period? Planning to submit the application by end of the Feb and the tentative date of travel is the 1st week of March.
2. Is it advisable to mention her purpose of the visit is to take of her daughter and grandchild in the application?
3. How much funds should be provided for 6 months visit, except flight tickets and visa fee?

I don't want to get rejected her visa as it is the most important to us of mother-in-law visit during these difficult times.

Grateful for your reply, in advance.

Kind regards

Hello

Visitor visas are still operating. The page doesn't mention any restrictions.

https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor-visa

When she comes, she will have to follow the rules in place such as having negative PCR test, filling locator form, self isolating for 10 days... etc.

Chances are hard to predict really. She needs to show strong ties to her home country (economic + social ties). If she has no ties there and all her family is in the UK, that can makes it harder for her to get a visa.

Yes, mention the circumstances and document them.

Hard to tell how much funds but be reasonable. Show your last 3 payslips rather than funds in an account. It's better.

Words may be important. "Taking care" of mother and child may be seen as unpaid employment and could trigger a refusal, as in the link above. "Bonding with" a new grandchild and the mother or "spending time" with a new grandchild may be more acceptable.

Hi Zerubbabel,

Thank you for your reply and for the information.

Sorry I missed mentioning that applicant is I Dian citizen and so application will be submitted in India.

Yes, in India the UK visa service centres in major cities are in operational and accepting visitor visas applications, which I have had enquired already. And I have checked all government guidlines and rules related to international travelers to the UK, like Covid-19 tests pre and -post travel, hotel quarantine and etc....

Thank you for your advice on submitting last three months pay slips, and her ties with her family back home country.

My main concern is travel restrictions on nonessential travel in England during national lockdown, rwhich apply to visit visas as well, as I thought.

As Simon replied, giving reason of taking care of new born baby and her pregnant daughter is likely to be unpaid job that leads to visa rejection.

It is much appreciated if you could give me any further advices.

Kind regards
