FLR M - When to apply

Hi,

My spouse visa is expiring on April 3, 2021 and need to apply for extension. My first visa was for 33 months and 8 days. I will be applying under 5 year route.

I read at some immigation adivice blogs that one should not apply 28 before the visa expiration date as I might need to apply for another FLR M to complete the 5 year requirement. Isn't FLR M for 30 months or the total of two Leave to remain visas is 60 months?

Should I wait till I am within 28 days expiration period or can I apply now?

What date you you enter the UK on a spouse visa?

You can apply within 28 days before reaching 30 months residence. The latest you can apply is the visa expiry date.

I landed in UK on 11 July 2018, so I have been in UK for over 31 months now. My visa expires on April 3, 2021.

It means I can apply now and do not need to wait till I am within 28 days of visa expiry. Will I get the new visa for 30 months?
