IELTS general for initial spouse visa

Hello All,

I am asking this question on behalf of a family member I'm helping to fill in a spouse visa application The applying partner has a score of 5.5 or B2 on IELTS general. Is that sufficient for their first spouse visa? I really don't get the guidance on how the English requirements work. I am also confused as to whether he should have done a different exam as what I saw on the guidance was IELTS SELT. Can anyone help me, thanks very much for your time and help!

Does the IELTS general has a UKVI number ?

You can't use the IELTS if it is not for UKVI otherwise you are looking a refusal! This is one of the most common reason for refusal where people submit the wrong English test.
