But what I still didn't understand is that, my brother applied in January 2021 and got this same letter like yours but the letter came with his passport and receipts. Can it be said that it's also a second stage letter when he only just applied in January 2021?

Interestingly this is the same wording of the letter that came back with passport and receipts last week after a 4 month wait. Should it be interpreted as a second stage letter?

Answering your question, if the first letter that you received was like my second stage letter, then it's most likely a negligence of the Department. Human error basically. I don't believe that they could move to the second stage this quickly, especially with all the restrictions. Most likely you will get the same letter again as the second stage letter in a few months.

The reason I query if witnessing in NI is acceptable is because much of the original application used the term 'the state' interchangeably with 'the island of Ireland' and many application questions accepted 'the state' to encompass NI. Queries to the department to clarify it resulted in different responses at that time. That was 2 years ago.

We are almost at final hurdle and, given restrictions of pandemic, I was really hoping this ambiguity about NI/state/Island might also be the case. It would save a lot of hassle right now if same local witness was acceptable. If anyone has a definitive decision either way I'd be keen to hear. Thank you.

No worries. The word State has always been regarded as to the Republic of Ireland.
Northern Ireland may have special agreements with the State, but it is not considered as part of it. Therefore it must be a legal professional registered and active in the Republic.

You may try to cross to the Republic, but I would strongly advise not to. You can learn about potential consequences of being caught from the official resources.

Maybe it will be considered essential service, legal services are listed as essential. I guess if you need to visit court it will be exempt from 5KM restrictions.

Submitted all the docs and fees online and sent declaration by post along with Irp card on 4th March. Status on inis website showing as submitted. Can everyone please update their status when it moves to completed.

This thread is for sending the signed affidavit after receiving the citizenship approval letter to receive naturalization certificate. Either you got into a wrong thread or you are just throwing bluffs out of blue. Because

1) There is no way you can pay CItizenship fees online.Its always bank draft
2) There is no way you can check the status in the inis website for Citizenship application.

I can't find any. If its official, WHy they haven't published in the immigration website? ANd also he mentions about the inis website status. Can you paste that link atleast where we can find the status of the application

I admit I was skeptical but after searching, yeah, might be legit. In fairness it's not like DOJ are great about keeping their site up to date.
