Tier 2 to ILR when dependent is not eligible yet

Post by Hayeesha » Thu Mar 25, 2021 7:52 pm

I know this question has possibly been asked a number of times but I really need someone to clarify this for me as i got confused on gov.uk. I am on a tier 2 dependent visa and my partner is due for IlR in may 2021. This is our timeline
Partner- Tier 2 -May 2016. ILR - May, 2021
Me-Tier 2 dependent-
Issued 27/01/20 and valid till 20/02/21
Renewal issued- 23/01/2021 valid till 20/02/2022
When he applies in May, i will not be able to apply for ILR. My assumption is
1) I do not need to do anything when he applies this may. Right?
2) I will need to renew my visa before it expires next February and will apply under the category that i did before (tier 2 dependent) which gives the 3 years extension?
My worry is that I should be renewing along with him since he is the main applicant and I need to be on his visa. But I cannot as i do not qualify for ILR. Your responses would be greatly appreciated.

1) Correct
2) You will apply for an extension next year when your visa is about to expire. Tier 2 route is now the Skilled worker route so you apply under skilled worker dependent route which is the same as before. ILR after 5 years
Advice is given based on my personal research and experience only. Do NOT contact me via private message for immigration advice

Issued 27/01/20 and valid till 20/02/21
Did you mean 27/01/2020? First visa issue?

Okay just wanted to confirm its not an error. Follow as @Zimba advised. Assuming your partner will apply for ILR via Tier 2 and not Long Residence.
