I will be grateful for some advice please.
I have received my ILR after completing 5 years in the UK on PBS dependent Tier 2 visa. My husband is a British citizen since 2019. Am I correct in thinking that I can apply for British citizenship straight away and dont need to wait for 1 year post ILR?
Please let me know at your convenience.
Many thanks,
Mehreen
PS: I tried but could not post in the previous thread. May be its locked - apologies
Absolute nonsense. The route to ilr is completely irrelevant for spouse of BC citizenship applications. The requirment to skip waiting 12 months in ILR is ONLY that you are married to a British citizen at the time of application (even if your spouse became British 1 days ago attending their ceremony), regardless of which route tonilr you took. Nowhere does it state it is only for those who went through the spouse visa route!!
That bit is definitely wrong.
Yes given you meet all other AN requirements for example residence absence limits, physical presence at the start of the qualifying period, good character etc. Refer to the guidance as above.MehreenNajeeb wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 11:22 pmHello. Thank you all very much for your comments. Thank you for the reference. So to summarise, from your comments and the reference 6(2) BNA, I am eligible to apply for British Citizenship?
Many thanks,
Mehreen
