SET(M) - Application - documents upload

Post by trying2Bsmart » Mon Apr 05, 2021 10:04 pm

Hi there,

I am about to pay for the set M application for my wife this week. I have got my employer letter 2nd week of March confirming my job, position, salary, when started etc. As I need to upload the documents at a later stage, I am not sure if I can still use that letter to upload. I am worrying about what happens if my letter issued is out of 30days time period by the time when I upload the documents.

Also, we own the house via mortgage but not received any mortgage agreement other than mortgage offer letter and the same monthly amount I am paying from my bank account. Can I upload mortgage offer letter, bank statements showing the direct debit & printed mortgage online statement?. Any other ideas here please.

This is the first time that I am seeing uploading the documents to the UKBA. Please may I know how many days will it take to get the link from the UKBA to upload the doc’s once after I pay for the application. How to provide the passport or bio metric card etc.

Thanks.

Steps to follow after completing the form online.
Depending on your visa category, you will fill the appropriate form online:

Step 1: Pay [fee + super priority fees (if available - not all categories are eligible, upon your choice)] and submit application via UKVI ONLINE.

Tip: Date of application is the date you pay and submit online, biometrics date is irrelevant.

Step 2: After payment, you will reach “further actions page.” If you click on “book an appointment,” system will reroute you to create an account on UKVCAS where you can upload your documents and book an appointment.

Tip: You are sent an access code to set up an account on UKVCAS which usually lands up in Junk folder.

Step 3: Booking an appointment with UKVCAS.

You must book an appointment now. IDV is the past except T4. You get 45 working days after submission.

Tip: You are given a deadline to submit your biometrics on the further actions page. Since the backlog for biometrics has subsided, you should meet the deadline.

Step 4: Now you can submit your documents to UKVI via UKVCAS portal even before your biometrics. The option usually appears when you have uploaded all your documents, sign out and sign in again. The option can be found on the “document upload page” right at the bottom.

Note: Self-submission is OPTIONAL. If you want to benefit from the new feature, you must upload and self-submit up to 48hrs before the appointment. If you do NOT want to self-submit, you can upload ANYTIME before the appointment date and submit at the appointment itself. Self-submission is recommended as you may save some processing time - your documents are sent to UKVI even before biometrics in this case. You can self-submit only ONCE. But if you forget to upload any documents, you can always upload later on (after self-submission) and submit at the appointment then (you will not be able to self-submit again but can submit at appointment again).

Read “self-submit” “submit” “upload” separately.

Tip: The best approach would be to benefit from the new self-submit feature.

Step 5: Once the process as stated above is completed, you should wait for a decision.

Is there any advantage to self-submitting apart from saving time - if you’re on super priority then it doesn’t matter as you’re paying for next day decision right?

Correct. This was drafted when super priority was suspended but still it is optional, does not harm. Plus not all categories can use SP so its like a generic advice. Personal preference.

PS: Even with SP, self-submission saves you time and hassle at the UKVCAS centre.

I have uploaded all the required documents. One last question I have uploaded the online copies of the bank statements. Will there be any issue with that?. Halifax statements looks decent whereas Santander e-documents do come with some special characters on the statements.

Thanks.

Hi there,

I have uploaded all the required documents in the UKVCAS website and submitted. It still says I should carry the original documents at the time of appointment. I have uploaded all the bank statements from the online bank so can I simply print these and take with me to the appointment?. Will they cross check all the original documents during the appointment? I haven't paid for the documents checking service.
Thanks.

Just carry originals like passport, brp or any originals (in case a scan needs to be redone) etc and appointment confirmation. No need to print soft copies.
Best is to self-submit documents before biometrics to save yourself time and hassle, but you can only do it up to 48hrs before appointment. Otherwise, UKVCAS staff will submit for you.
