ILR SET (M) Application - Just a few questions.

Post by FarhanAkhtar83 » Mon Mar 22, 2021 5:04 pm

Hi,

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who submits answers on this forum - you all have your own lives so thank you so much.

My wife is in the Country under a spouse visa under the 5 year route, her current visa (FLR) expires on the 15th June so i will be applying for ILR SET (M) around the 15th May but i just wanted to ask a few questions please -

Apologies if any of these questions have been answered before.

* I have been told by someone that copies of ALL documents must not be uploaded during the application as well as sending physical copies in the post - is that correct? I just want to know whether to start scanning the documents as there is a lot of documents.

* During the FLR application, photocopies of every single page of the applicants passport (even blank ones) had to be sent - is this the case for ILR - the guidelines are not clear whether this is needed or not.

* If i submit the application on the 15th May, what is the latest bank statement i can have because obviously i won't have a bank statement from the 15th May, if for example the statement is 3 weeks old, will this be accepted?

* I meet the £18,600 income however i only have about £2,000 in savings - will that count against me or do savings not really matter?

Thank You in advance.

ONLY digital scans are needed. Physical documents are not sent at all. You do NOT need to upload blank pages. Statements must be within 30 days of the application submission date. If you meet the financial requirement using your salary, your savings are not relevant

Thank you so much, that clears a few things up.

Just one more question, with the document uploads, say for example i submit 6 months of bank statements - that ends up being between 12-18 pages - do they all just need to be scanned 1 by 1 and uploaded after i pay the fee?

The more organised the better. PDF is preferred. However JPEG or PDF both are accepted. Each file size should be less than 6MB. Colour or B&W does not matter as long you can contain the file size. I would suggest make 1 PDF file/ALL bank statements etc.
Steps to follow after completing the form online.
Depending on your visa category, you will fill the appropriate form online:

Step 1: Pay [fee + super priority fees (if available - not all categories are eligible, upon your choice)] and submit application via UKVI ONLINE.

Tip: Date of application is the date you pay and submit online, biometrics date is irrelevant.

Step 2: After payment, you will reach “further actions page.” If you click on “book an appointment,” system will reroute you to create an account on UKVCAS where you can upload your documents and book an appointment.

Tip: You are sent an access code to set up an account on UKVCAS which usually lands up in Junk folder.

Step 3: Booking an appointment with UKVCAS.

You must book an appointment now. IDV is the past except T4. You get 45 working days after submission.

Tip: You are given a deadline to submit your biometrics on the further actions page. Since the backlog for biometrics has subsided, you should meet the deadline.

Step 4: Now you can submit your documents to UKVI via UKVCAS portal even before your biometrics. The option usually appears when you have uploaded all your documents, sign out and sign in again. The option can be found on the “document upload page” right at the bottom.

Note: Self-submission is OPTIONAL. If you want to benefit from the new feature, you must upload and self-submit up to 48hrs before the appointment. If you do NOT want to self-submit, you can upload ANYTIME before the appointment date and submit at the appointment itself. Self-submission is recommended as you may save some processing time - your documents are sent to UKVI even before biometrics in this case. You can self-submit only ONCE. But if you forget to upload any documents, you can always upload later on (after self-submission) and submit at the appointment then (you will not be able to self-submit again but can submit at appointment again).

Read “self-submit” “submit” “upload” separately.

Tip: The best approach would be to benefit from the new self-submit feature.

Step 5: Once the process as stated above is completed, you should wait for a decision.

Suggestion for booking biometrics appointments, might be helpful to new users:

You have 45 working days to book an appointment (excluding Sat/Sun) after online submission. These days biometrics appointments are running at a 28 days lag i.e. you get an appointment for the 28th day unless you get to find an earlier cancellation.

My suggestion:
1) Login UKVCAS booking system 12 AM midnight GMT to look for appointments.

2) Look for different centres and locations if you are willing to travel.

3) Look continuously for 3/4 days regularly (after submission and before booking a slot) to find an earlier cancellation or free appointments during the day/after midnight. For free appointments look especially between 6am-9am in the morning. Free options are offered by Core Centres only (week days).

4) If you fail and can not find any earlier cancellations or free appointments for next 3/4 days after submission, book one logging in at 12 AM midnight GMT. You will get one for the 28th day (has to be a week day for better availability). If the 28th day is a Sat/Sun, availability will be almost nil.

I would suggest you try your luck for 3/4 days before you book one. Once you book an appointment, you will not be able to see any more availability.

Just a little help about documents please for ILR SET (M)

Post by FarhanAkhtar83 » Sat May 29, 2021 10:55 am

Hi,

Last weekend i submitted my wifes ILR SET (M) application, our appointment for biometrics is next Saturday - couldn't find a free appointment so had to pay £180 - but oh well.

We are going to scan our documents ourselves before the appointment

The questions i wanted to ask was:

1) Do we need to upload passport sized photos? And in which category?
1a) If we do need to submit these, do they need to be signed? So would need to submit a scan of both sides?

2) Do we need to photocopy every page of both of our passports - the guidance says we need to so this might be a stupid question but i just wasn't sure.

Thanks.

1. No, photos are not required.

2. Only the applicants passport stamped pages and bio page. Sponsor bio page only.

P60 is not required.

Cover letter is not required. Her name not being on the mortgage is irrelevant.

Housing report survey is not required.

Photos of you together or with her friends are not required.

Your cohabitation evidence needs to be spread evenly for every 3 to 4 months, in joint names or indivially addressed, from at least 6 different sources

Hi thank you as always for your reponse!

Please can i just check, the correspondence needs to be from 6 different sources? I thought you could have 2 from the same source? - So for example, 2 from A, 2 from B, and 2 from C.

Or am i completely wrong and it needs to be from 6 different ones.

It was definitely 3 different sources unless the rules have recently changed.

@farhan, did you submit the application form? If so did you have the option to select priority option?
