Post by awaismalik1234 » Mon Jun 07, 2021 4:50 pm

Hello

We are expecting a child. We are living abroad at the moment and i am a British citizen.

I want to know if i will have to register my child as british or will my child be British automatically and i will be able to apply for British passport for the child directly.

I would be greatfull if someone and answer the question would be great if someone had any experience

Manythanks

This one. The child will be British by descent.

Were you naturalised as a British citizen? And if not, were you born in the UK? If either of these apply, your child will be born British and you can apply for a British passport directly.
If you were born outside the UK, your child will not be automatically British if born outside the UK. But you may be able to register your child as a British citizen.

If you search the users previous posts, like most of us do, it would answer your question!
