Query for Tier 2/Skilled Worker Visa before ILR application

Post by lancsmedic » Sat Jul 10, 2021 10:37 pm

Dear friends, I am a foreign doctor training in the NHS. My current Tier 2 visa expires in August 2022 and I am eligible for ILR at the earliest in October 2021. My training programme extended my training by 6 months last week to January 2023 because of my personal and professional circumstances.

My question is: Would I have to approach the NHS sponsorship team for a new certificate of sponsorship to cover and extend my current Tier 2 visa for the additional 6 months from August 2022 to January 2023 before I apply for my ILR in October 2021?

Hope the aforementioned visa extension would not be necessary as I will complete the qualifying period under the Tier 2 / Skilled Workers visa with my current certificate of sponsorship expiring in August 2022.

Look forwards to hearing everyone's comments and experiences.

Thanks again and hope everyone stays safe!
