In addition to CR001's advice above, a quick note that children born outside the UK don't have an entitlement to British citizenship. Applications for registration of children born abroad as British citizens is at discretion, not an entitlement.

Thank you CR001 for clarification. Does it make any material difference if (1) I wait for the second parent to gain settled status or (2) apply for BC straightaway?
All clear, thank you for taking time to clarify our position. As a run-away question, what form should we be using once time and documents are right to make an application for BC?
