Arrived in the UK on an EUSS family permit on 5th July.
Applied for EUSS: 6 July (spouse is Irish with pre-settled status since 2019)
Biometrics: 1 August
EUSS family permit expired: 10 August
Called up EU resolution centre multiple times in the past 2 months and got the standard responses - "you have to keep waiting for the COA", "we can't share any timelines", etc. I needed a COA urgently as my employer was giving me a hard time about proving my right to work.
My employer did a right-to-work check around 13 August. They received a "negative" response in early September.
Requested MP for help: 23 September
MP's office responded on 27 September that they have weekly meetings with the Home Office on Wednesday afternoons and that they would escalate my case.
MP replied on Wednesday 29 September evening that the Home Office was still in the ID verification stage of my application. The MP committed to following up at every weekly meeting (which I thought was great service).
Received COA: 4 October
Received pre-settled status: 4 October (weirdly, just an hour after the COA)
In all it took 3 months since I submitted the application and 2 months since biometrics, although I suspect it would have taken a lot longer if the MP hadn't escalated.
Hi! How did you request help from MP? how did you and where did you find the information to contact them?
