Visa Application query - Current BRP is with DVLA

Hi All,

Please help me with following query:

My current BRP is with DVLA and not sure when I am getting it back. It's already been 8+ weeks with them. I am switching my job and have to attend Visa appointment for biometrics. Is BRP a mandatory document to be carried in original while attending the appointment?

Also, while filling the form can I mention following?
Do you have a biometric residence permit?
No, I had a biometric residence permit for my most recent leave, but I do not have it now


Anyone of you faced such issue. please help.

Do you have a copy of you brp?

You cannot say no to that question I you have a valid brp card. You only answer no if it is lost or you don't have one at all.

What did you send your brp to DVLA for?

Yes, I do have scanned copy of BRP with me.

And I did send it to DVLA for provisional driving license. They either accept Passport or BRP. Thank god I didnt send passport.

Perhaps you should have waited before applying for a provisional license if you had plans to change jobs.

I had no idea DVLA gonna take such long time to return my BRP. This is so frustrating.

However, while filling up the form I see -
You must provide your documents after you submit your application, these can be originals or copies. Any passports provided must be originals.


does that mean for copy of BRP should work ?

Copies should be fine if the brp.
