BRP replacement

Hi there, I have ILR and have a quick question on renewing my BRP. I am aware that my passport will be needed at my UKCVAS appointment, I want to know if UKCVAS will retain my passport for processing? I note that BRP replacement could take up to 6 months or even more due to recent delay, if thats the case, I could be without passport for more than 6 months? :?

No, passport is NOT retained by UKCVAS.
