application has not been straightforward - Skilled Worker Visa

Hello all,

I applied for a Skilled worker visa on 4th of October (Standard service).

I recently got the following e-mail

Thank you for applying for a UK visa. Your visa application has been received and is under consideration. We aim to process non settlement applications within 15 working days (unless you have opted for the Priority Visa service), and settlement applications within 60 working days.

Unfortunately, the processing of your application has not been straightforward and we will be unable to decide your application within our customer service targets. We are continuing to work on your application and aim to make a decision as soon as possible.


1. Does this mean I will be interviewed for the visa decision?
2. How long they will be taking further to issue the visa?
3. Has anybody else got a successful outcome after receiving this e-mail as a skilled worker visa applicant?

Hi there, might be a bit late for you (and hope that your visa has been approved!) but I'll share my recent experience for those who may have the same questions.

We provided our biometrics on the very same day, 4 October . My partner received an additional documents request (further proving cohabitation for the past 2 years) on 15 October, and received the same 'application not straightforward' email on 19 October.

We provided further documents via email as instructed on 21 October. Received an email from VAC on 27 October. The date on the Home Office letter enclosed with a vignette is 25 October.

1. Does this mean I will be interviewed for the visa decision?

My partner was never interviewed.

2. How long they will be taking further to issue the visa?

For my partner it overall took 18 working days from the date of biometrics.

No I still haven't got my visa and no email received since that day.
