Post by RCCar » Thu Oct 28, 2021 1:48 pm

Hi,

What faster for minor - apply for citizenship now as my daughter has 5 years of residence here or wait until I got naturalization certificate and apply then?

For a minor you can only apply for citizenship via naturalisation once their parent has gone through naturalisation i.e. the minor has to wait till the parent is an Irish citizen.

Where was your child born? How many years have your child been living here? And when did you apply for your own naturalisation?

In that case Form 11.
If you intend to use Form 9, you are looking at at least another year or so before you can submit her application.

Hi,

Could I just ask if adult applications taking about 24 months at the moment, does child application is also taking 24 months on average?

and does that make any difference in processing times if minor application is on form 9 or form 11?

thanks

As far as I understand, there is no big difference between a child and an adult application, even though there's not much they can check for child applications. I guess they are mostly just piled up in chronological order along with adult applications, but that's just my guess.

Hi everyone,

I have 2 questions to ask that are on form 9.

1. Where or how do you get "A copy of the letter confirming your child’s refugee status if appropriate"?

2. Childcare facilities (creche and pre-schools) needs to be included in these letters or do we have to consider any institute starting from Junior infant classes? Original (not photocopies of) school letters from each school attended by your child from his
or her date of arrival in the State to date of application. The school letters must show
enrolment dates, periods of attendance and the number of days attended in each school
year.

Thank you for helping guys!

1. From whoever grants your child the permission to reside as a refugee.
2. Crèches are not required but there’s no harm including it in.

Thanks, Litter. I guess No.1 does not apply to us and for No.2 I can attach them as it wont cause any harm :)
