Naturalisation for whole family queries

Post by cuongle » Mon Nov 01, 2021 3:08 pm

Hi everyone,

I and my wife got ILR (from Tier 2 General) in March 2020, and we are now applying naturalisation. We have some concerns below:

1. My wife's current passport is expired for the next months. Do we have to renew the passport before applying or it's OK to apply? I am just worried, if we apply, the passport may be expired before the outcome from Home Office.

2. We have two kids (twins, 5-year-old) who were born in the UK before we got ILR. When filling MN1 form for them. There is a question:

Have you had settlement in the UK?

Should I say NO or YES on this question as I am not sure kids have settlement after we got ILR?

3. We have to apply for the whole family (me, my wife, and two kids). How many referees should we have to get? is this OK that we can get only 2 referees for the whole family.

4. There is a requirement for kids:

Where the applicant is a child applying, one referee should be a professional who has engaged with the child in a professional capacity, such as a teacher, health visitor, social worker or minister of religion.

I am afraid that it's pretty hard to personal information from the school teacher or GP. Therefore, is that OK that we can get friends as referees for kids?

5. Is Software Engineer can be considered professional standing?

6. On the question:

Have you made any previous UK immigration applications in the UK or abroad?

I have two travel visas over 10 years ago which I cannot remember when and fingerprints taken or not, is this OK that I can leave these questions blank?

2. if your kids have ILR, then you should say yes, otherwise No
4. one needs to be someone who dealt with the kid in a professional capacity, if no-one is agreeing to be a referee, then I guess you need to explain that in a covering letter.
5. it need to be registered as a professional engineer (i.e. with engineering council like a chartered engineer etc)
6. if you don't know the details you can say that in the application.
