Maternity Allowance with Tier 2 visa

Post by sarrial » Thu Nov 04, 2021 5:35 pm

Hi

I have Tier 2 work permit and would like to know about maternity allowance I am eligible for.

My company started my maternity leave from October 3rd. So from this date I am entitled to receive my full payroll for the first 6 weeks.

For the following 33 weeks, they said I would receive £151.97 per week.

They are unsure how the additional maternity allowances will affect my visa status and recommended to reach out to HMRC. I would like to know if I am eligible for any maternity allowance as my visa states 'no recourse to public funds'.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Public funds (in "No recourse to public funds") has a very specific and limited meaning; broadly non-contribution benefits.

The person can apply for both Statutory Maternity Pay and Maternity Allowance (see Page 13 of guidance) if they meet the other requirements for those benefits.
