Hey Guys,

I have paid online fees of 950 and also submitted other docs online . Now I have to travel outside of Ireland on urgent basis. Can you please help to ans following questions based on your experience?

I have to submit my IRP card with manual Declaration form. Can I not send it or request it back after submitting it?
Once naturalisation certificate is received, Do I have to travel to Ireland to apply for an Irish Passport? Can I not apply it from being outside of Ireland?

Thanks

You will not get a naturalisation certificate without returning your IRP card along with the signed declaration. If you're a visa-required national, get a re-entry visa first, and then send your IRP card. You can only apply for a first-time passport if you are in Ireland, UK, US, EU, Australia, Canada or New Zealand.

A small correction on the last bit there - you can apply for your first passport anywhere in the world, but you can only apply *online* in the countries above. It doesn't make too much difference as first-time applicants will need to get someone to stamp the application and certify the documents, and then they need to go to a post office to send it away anyway.

However, as Vorona said there, don't apply for your passport just yet. If you apply for your Irish passport from abroad, you may be stuck abroad for 3 months or more.

Apply for a re-entry visa first, with a copy of approval letter, a copy of IRP card, a cover letter indicating your reason for urgent travel and why you don't have IRP card, and proof of urgency (and of course the application form and the passport).

I've been sent a letter by citizenship office saying I need to complete the Declaration of fidelity to the nation and loyalty to the State and send documents before 30th May but I only received this letter on 1st Nov by post. What should I do now? Should I complete the form and send relevant documents or not?

I most definitely would. Along with a cover letter explaining the reason for the delay.

Did the postmark say May or Oct/Nov? I would have thought that it is just some random INIS staff working off an outdated template. That is far more likely than An Post keeping your letter for 6 months and suddenly decided to deliver it.

Congratulations on the approval! Am I correct to say that now with the certificate in hands you have all you need to proceed with the Irish passport request?
