Filling VAF-1 for EC -Please help

Post by viren68 » Thu Apr 28, 2005 7:44 am

Hello experienced Folks,

I have got approval after much toil and pain. About 10 months waiting time. I need to go for the EC and have got some doubts. Please help for filling the VAF-1, NON SETTLEMENT FORM for getting the hassle free EC.

SECTION 1 - WHAT TYPE OF VISA ARE YOU APPLYING FOR?

Shall I write HSMP in the Others ---Please Specify.

SECTION 5 – ABOUT YOUR STAY IN THE UK

5.1 How long do you intend to stay in the UK? Shall I write one year

5.3 Why are you going to the UK? Shall I write as Work Permit holder or HSMP

5.4 Do you intend to set yourself up in business while you are in the UK?

I will write no

6.8 Do you receive income from any other sources, including friends or family?

Shall I write yes or no. Please tell pros and cons of both answers. if asked during the interview at the High commission by the ECO

SECTION 7 – EMPLOYMENT IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

7.1 What job do you propose to take in the UK?

7.3 Are you applying to go to the UK as a work permit holder?

If you have answered yes to question 7.3, please answer questions 7.4-7.6.

7.4 Work permit number
7.5 Date of issue
7.6 Length of permit

So friends eagerly waiting for the reply to the above questions.
This forum has indeed provided many guidelines helps and suggestions all along the way.

"Something which is not here, is no where"
This is my view about the forum and no consultant can provide such help.
Basically this forum is a cummulative effort of several HSMP brains.

Few things:
1) Make habit of searching this BB for your questions, many of questions have been answered many times in past
2) Use PM for personal stuff

SECTION 1 - WHAT TYPE OF VISA ARE YOU APPLYING FOR?

Shall I write HSMP in the Others ---Please Specify.
==> HSMP

SECTION 5 – ABOUT YOUR STAY IN THE UK

5.1 How long do you intend to stay in the UK? Shall I write one year
==> 1 year

5.3 Why are you going to the UK? Shall I write as Work Permit holder or HSMP
==> "To Live and work in UK" and remember this sentence you need to repeat it as many times as you are asked in the future at various places.. Customs... Immigration officers.. and even sometimes the Boarding Pass issuer at Airports may ask you.

5.4 Do you intend to set yourself up in business while you are in the UK?

I will write no
==> that's fine

6.8 Do you receive income from any other sources, including friends or family?

Shall I write yes or no. Please tell pros and cons of both answers. if asked during the interview at the High commission by the ECO
==> If you rcv then do write there is no harm, but you may need to produce proof for this. I would suggest better be on your own as this shows your ability to survive better on your own once you are in UK.

SECTION 7 – EMPLOYMENT IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

7.1 What job do you propose to take in the UK?
==> Write similar kind of job as you doin gnow in india. For example if you are Software Developer then write Software Developer

7.3 Are you applying to go to the UK as a work permit holder?
==> NO
If you have answered yes to question 7.3, please answer questions 7.4-7.6.

7.4 Work permit number
7.5 Date of issue
7.6 Length of permit
==> NA

And it's free too :) . You will understand the meaning of "Free" once you are here

cheers

Hello Ajay ji,

Thanks Ajay ji for the answers. Actually I am from non IT profession and after much toil and pain and of course prayers I got the approval. I do not want to take any chance of EC refusal due to my ignorance.

I Apologize for the same.
