Validity period of PBS extension visa

Hi,

I have recently got ILR in September through Tier 2 five year route. My wife's history is below:

Type of visa: PBS Dependent
Date of issue: 15/12/2020
Date of entry: 28/02/2021
Date of expiry: 30/08/2022

We're planning on applying for an extension just a few days before the expiry around 26/08/2022 and pushing thr Biometrics as far back as possible (assuming 45 working days is acceptable), this would take the Biometrics appointment to about 28/10/2022.

As I understand, her extension visa will be granted for 3 years. Let's say the decision from the Home Office comes within 4 weeks on 25/11/2022. Will the extension visa be valid 3 years from the decision date (i.e. the new visa will expire on 25/11/2025) or would it be valid 3 years from the expiry date of the current visa (i.e valid until 30/08/2025) regardless of the date of the decision?

Thanks Vinny. So let's say her extension is now valid from the decision date of 25/11/2022 until 25/11/2025. The 3 month period from her previous visa expiry date of 30/08/2022 until 25/11/2022 is not covered anywhere. Is that fine? It's not considered breaking continuous leave?

There is no issue here. For in-time applications the permission (leave) is automatically extended until the decision date (ref. section 3C)
