450days/90days count (Common travel area)

Post by weworkuk » Thu Dec 16, 2021 4:04 pm

- 450 days in the 5 year period prior to submitting your British citizenship application; and
- 90 days in the period of 12 months ending with the date of your British citizenship application.

Hello.

I have an ILR and am eligible to apply for UK citizenship in Oct 2022, I will stay a few weeks in Ireland(NOT north) in 2022.

As far as I know, Ireland is not part of the UK but CTA, therefore it will not count (450days/90days rule).

Is it true? I can't find any information.

Thanks!

AFAIK, it's all absences from the UK. You are correct that Ireland is part of the CTA, but not part of the UK. The AN Guidance doesn't say anything about an exemption. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... _final.pdf
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

thanks for your kind reply.

I asked one of UK visa adviser online, and they said CTA will not count. However, I can't find any related information online..

You mean the UKVI helpline? Note that that is an outsourced operation, they are not caseworkers.
They should have given you a reference as to where that is stated.

If you pay money for advice they should definitely give you the source.
Unfortunately sometimes the advice from lawyers is not reliable - mix ups between immigration and naturalisation requirements happen (they are different).
