Spouse Visa Accountant letter for employment

Post by Haliasidd » Sat Dec 18, 2021 11:44 am

Hello everyone,

I always receive great advice and guidance on this forum and I’m hoping I’ll receive an answer to another one of my questions.

I am a British national and my spouse is an Afghan national and we are looking to apply for a spouse visa in the near future. We meet almost all the requirements however there is one thing I’m a little unsure of.

My question is, is an accountant letter a requirement for employment (not self-employment) when applying for a spouse visa?

I would appreciate any guidance I could receive in this matter.

Thank you

Accountant letter is ONLY a requirement for those people who are self employed to confirm that an accountant who is registered deals with their account for them so it is mandatory. If you are NOT a self employed person, you ONLY need an employment letter from your employer who is issuing your payslips confirming the following

Appendix FM-SE

"(b) A letter from the employer(s) who issued the payslips at paragraph 2(a) confirming:
(i) the person’s employment and gross annual salary;
(ii) the length of their employment;
(iii) the period over which they have been or were paid the level of salary relied upon in the application; and
(iv) the type of employment (permanent, fixed-term contract or agency)."
My opinions should not be constituted as an immigration or legal advice.

Do consider whether your employer falls into being a "specified type of limited company". In which case you will have to provide various documents relating to the company.

A "specified type of limited company" is one which:
1. The person is a either a director or employee of the company, or both, or of another company within the same group; or

2. Shares are held (directly or indirectly) by the person, their partner or the following family members of the person or their partner: parent, grandparent, child, stepchild, grandchild, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, nephew, niece or first cousin; and (iii) any remaining shares are held (directly or indirectly) by fewer than five other persons.
