can i apply stamp4 before the end of my current stamp1 work permit

Hi Guys,

if my current workpermit is valid for the next 8 months and i am already eligible for stamp4 (already completed 5 years on stamp1 general), can i apply for stamp4 right now or do I need to wait for 8 months to complete the existing workpermit?

if its the 2nd case (wait until the current workpermit is complete), do i need to go to garda at the end of this workpermit and request stamp4, i.e. completed 5yrs and 8months on stam1 G so can apply for stamp4 without having any valid workpermit/leave in hand?

Hi - I did this last year and managed to get stamp 4 even though I still have a GEP - I was five years on Stamp 1 last March I didn’t wait for the expiry of my GEP which expired in May. I applied this online as “renewal” see thread below might be useful.
