Received e-vetting invitation form today. A little confused about if they require a copy of passport or other ID documentation to be sent back with this? Letter doesnt mention it but the guidelines included state "all applicants will be required to provide documents to validate their identity. "

I'm also confused as to which address this form should be sent and is it worth doing so by recorded delivery?

Can anybody help clarify? Thanks so much

Hi all

I applied Oct 2020 (Non-EU, 5 yrs Stamp 1+4) and have not received any e-vetting request :( Does anyone know if absolutely EVERYBODY will be contacted for e-vetting? On the INIS website it says Applicants who submitted an application prior to 30th March 2021 may be requested to complete an authorisation. These applicants will be contacted in writing by the Citizenship division. so why the 'may be requested'?

I've applied for an FOI in Nov 2021 and received it in Dec - absolutely useless info! I'm thinking of contacting a solicitor in March for JR if I get no update from them by then.

Thanks a mil

I applied in Nov 2020 and got e-vetting request letter about a week ago. My wife applied in Dec 2019 and was approved without e-vetting. As far as I know (I was reading about it somewhere), if you applied before May 2021 then you might get e-vetting letter or you might not, it depends on the immigration officer.

Is someone you referring to is EU or UK citizen?

Looks like EU citizens applied end of 2020 have started receiving vetting forms as the teams and queues of EU and non-EU applications are different.

I know of few people (British Citizens) including me who applied Mid-Late 2020 got e-vetting in the last few weeks.

It seems as though e-vetting are requested for EU or UK Citizens at the moment.

I know couple of my friends who are non-eu citizens were asked for Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) which is something done via countries embassy services in Ireland or abroad n not Garda.

So my understanding is if you have provided PCC already, you may or may not be requested e-vetting.

I may be wrong but it is just my observation.

@rajabrit this is very interesting. Thanks for letting me know. It does look like non-EU & EU queues are being handled differently in this regard.

Also I thought Police Clearance is something only required if you lived more than 6 months overseas during your stay in Ireland. I have lived in Ireland for most my adult life without spending 6 weeks overseas in any given year - would be interesting to see if I get asked this. I supposed any news for me is good news because the FOI shows my application has not been looked at since August 2021!

May I ask, does your non EU friend applied around same time as you or was it before you ??

I think PCC and e-vetting are different in a way , PCC is asked randomly or long time outside Ireland for checking from second county (ex. home country).
E-vetting is for Garda check in Ireland.

It could be EU/UK queue are faster than non EU queue ( fair or unfair :( ) and that could be reason that mostly EU/UK citizens are getting evetting request at the moment.

My non-eu friend applied same time (Jan 2021) but was asked PCC after few months of applying.

I also know of EU Citizen who was asked PCC from the UK for some strange reason (though IE and UK share records) where he used to live.

Hi Burzum,
Just wondering if you have received an email with the link to complete the e vetting.
I also applied in Nov 2020 and got a letter a week ago but haven't received an email.
I saw on the 2020 citizenship timeline board, people that received their e vetting invitations forms last week have already gotten their links.

Thanks

Received e-vetting invitation form today. A little confused about if they require a copy of passport or other ID documentation to be sent back with this? Letter doesnt mention it but the guidelines included state "all applicants will be required to provide documents to validate their identity. "

I'm also confused as to which address this form should be sent and is it worth doing so by recorded delivery?

Can anybody help clarify? Thanks so much
Dear sir/ madam
I did my e vetting last month and it's completed
In the letter that you received with the form it indicates the address to which you should sent cmu4 department of justice rosanna road tipperary E34 N566
You should send copy of your passport as well
Good luck if anything else I can help ask me
Could you please tell me when you applied for citizenship?
I just received the garda vetting information form today, as well as a request to send in "original in-date passport". Did your letter request the same, but the copy you sent was accepted? I'm tempted to just send my original again, even though they had it back in 2020 with my initial application...especially if it means I am nearing the end of this process.

It is bizarre but in my opinion you need to send the passport again unfortunately as they have specifically asked for it.

If you look at my 2020 Citizenship timeline, I got the same request again after my passport was returned originally. I got the same letter requesting for it.

One thing to note is though i got my passport after 5 months initially, when I sent the passport again, I got back within a week. Hope its the same for you.

I think you're probably right - I just hope they are quicker getting it back than last time (4 months, but in fairness we were in lockdown). After you sent in your passport again with your vetting form, did you receive final approval shortly after?

My letter does not specify 'original copy of passport' - this makes me wonder whether I can send a copy. It gives me anxiety every time I have to send my original passport by post....

I didn’t get passport n vetting in the same time. I have got no approval yet.

My timeline which will answer your question:

Applied Date: 14th December 2020
Application received Date: 16th December 2020 (Delivered to Tipperary DSU)
Acknowledgement Date: - 11th March, 2021 (received passport, acknowledgement dated 3rd March and receipt)
Second Letter: 18th May. Requesting for my Passport again
Passport Recived: 25th May, 2021(letter dated 19th May)
E-Vetting Invitation: By post on 25th, January, 2022
E-Vetting Email Link : Received 31st, January, 2022 and submitted online same day.

Mine was a non-EU application based on residency. I sent my initial application in late October 2020, and got my passport back, along with acknowledgement and a request for additional info in Feb 2021. Today, 8 Feb 2022, I received the garda-vetting form to complete and send back by post, as well as a request for my original in-date passport. I'm going to send both tomorrow by registered post, and hope for the best!

I'm also going to include a short explanation for my trips abroad in case they are reviewing my passport pages. I was gone 30 days since my application was initially sent in, 23 of those days were in my home country. I don't think this should be an issue though - less than 6 weeks over a 15/16 month period.
